About The Position

Sentara Port Warwick in Newport News, VA is seeking an experienced Sr. Laboratory Scientist to work full days (0600-1430) in the Clinical Lab. This role involves performing laboratory testing, interpreting results using scientific knowledge, and recommending contingency testing. The Sr. Laboratory Scientist is directly responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing daily technical operations, including staff training and education, implementation of instrumentation, and accreditation readiness. A generous sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is available for qualified candidates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in medical technology or Biology/Chemical Science
• ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification
• 3 years of laboratory experience

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing and interpret test results using scientific knowledge and principles of test procedures and disease processes.
• Recommend contingency testing.
• Develop, maintain, and manage daily technical operations.
• Oversee staff training and education.
• Implement instrumentation.
• Ensure accreditation readiness.
