This position performs routine standardized clinical diagnostic tests in a clinical laboratory, potentially involving infectious agents. The role requires adherence to hospital and departmental policies, including safety procedures and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The Medical Laboratory Scientist will participate in performance improvement activities, support regulatory and accreditation standards, and engage in laboratory quality activities such as monitoring, auditing, and documentation. Responsibilities include specimen handling, data recording in the laboratory informatics system, assessing and addressing potential performance problems, preparing reagents, performing quality control, operating and maintaining instrumentation, and documenting maintenance. The role also involves calling notification values to clinical staff, performing proficiency testing, inventory management, and completing annual competency assessments. This position is available at levels 1-3 depending on experience, license/certification, and education.
