About The Position

Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Regional Blood Bank at Providence Health Plaza in Portland, OR. Per Diem/Variable Shift. The Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist Journeyman is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of high complexity laboratory test results with minimal supervision. MT/CLS JRN personnel are capable of performing pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical duties including specimen evaluation, data analysis, and instrument maintenance and problem resolution. They often work with acute-care and outpatient caregivers, along with other Laboratory Services staff in performing their duties. Providence caregivers are not simply valued – they’re invaluable. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science from a NAACLS accredited MLS program, or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
  • Upon hire: National Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology, or
  • Upon hire: National Clinical Laboratory Scientist - American Society for Clinical Pathology, or
  • Upon hire: National Medical Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology, or
  • Upon hire: National Medical Technologist - American Medical Technologists, or
  • Upon hire: National Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Medical Technologist
  • 1 year experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in a department in the laboratory or exceeds principal duties and functions in the MLS I job description.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years clinical laboratory experience in a moderate and high complexity laboratory.

Responsibilities
