About The Position

Provide instruction and supervision in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) courses, including grading and assessing competency of MLS students, with the goal of ensuring competent entry-level practitioners. Assists with administering the MLS program rules, regulations, and policies in compliance with current accreditation standards. Demonstrates knowledge of clinical education content for a bachelor’s degree medical laboratory science program. Collaborates with the program faculty in reviewing/assessing, and revision of course materials as needed. Reports to the Academic Dean and/or Program Chair.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree.
  • Two (2) years of related work experience and/or clinical experience as a medical laboratory scientist and/or science educator.
  • Current licensure/certification, board certification registration or license to practice in the State of Tennessee as appropriate to professional practice areas.
  • ASCP BOC or ASCPi BOC generalist certification as a medical laboratory scientist.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in a related discipline or appropriate discipline for college teaching/administration.
  • Experience teaching in higher education.
