The Medical Laboratory Professional performs high-complexity laboratory testing and analysis to support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role requires independent judgment, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to quality and accuracy. Requirements
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Technologist (MT), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification (ASCP, AMT, NCA, or equivalent) or eligibility for certification within 12 months of hire
- Education and laboratory training consistent with federal requirements for high-complexity testing
- CPR certification (or eligible within 12 months of hire)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to accuracy, quality, and patient safety
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Compliance with all hospital policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered)
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening (post-offer)
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory testing across multiple disciplines, including: Hematology & Coagulation, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Blood Bank, Microbiology and Serology
- Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, processing, and analysis
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, including calibration and preventive maintenance
- Adhere to quality control standards and document all activities
- Identify and resolve testing issues or notify appropriate personnel
- Accurately report results, including prompt communication of critical values
- Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
- Assist with phlebotomy as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and laboratory records
