About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Professional performs high-complexity laboratory testing and analysis to support the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role requires independent judgment, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to quality and accuracy. Requirements

  • Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Technologist (MT), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) certification (ASCP, AMT, NCA, or equivalent) or eligibility for certification within 12 months of hire
  • Education and laboratory training consistent with federal requirements for high-complexity testing
  • CPR certification (or eligible within 12 months of hire)
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to accuracy, quality, and patient safety
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Compliance with all hospital policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered)
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening (post-offer)

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing across multiple disciplines, including: Hematology & Coagulation, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Blood Bank, Microbiology and Serology
  • Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, processing, and analysis
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, including calibration and preventive maintenance
  • Adhere to quality control standards and document all activities
  • Identify and resolve testing issues or notify appropriate personnel
  • Accurately report results, including prompt communication of critical values
  • Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Assist with phlebotomy as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation and laboratory records
