About The Position

St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is seeking a skilled Anatomic/General Pathologist to join their esteemed team of two pathologists. The role involves working in a collaborative environment within a state-of-the-art facility to provide accurate and timely results that support high-quality patient care. The hospital's new laboratory services department is equipped with the latest technology. They partner with the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PaLM) at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) for laboratory support and consultation services. The pathology department handles approximately 7,500 specimens annually, with a focus on Gastrointestinal, Gynecological, Breast, Urological, and Dermatopathology, along with Clinical Autopsy services. There are opportunities for teaching and professional growth through an academic affiliation with Western University's pathology residency program and pathologist’s assistant program, with eligibility for Adjunct Professor status. The location is conveniently situated near London and the beaches of Port Stanley, in a region projected for significant growth.

Requirements

  • Certified in Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology or Diagnostics and Clinical Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario for independent practice.
  • Computer skills including regular use of Outlook, RL6, Cerner, Internet and Intranet navigation.
  • Ability to adapt to changes, use analytical and problem-solving skills while maintaining a high standard of professionalism.
  • Physical ability to complete all tasks required of the position.
  • Acceptable performance record in alignment with STEGH’s mission, vision, values and code of conduct.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of one (1) year of previous laboratory experience preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Working knowledge of Cerner LIS.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely results that support high-quality patient care.
  • Handle approximately 7,500 specimens annually, focusing on areas such as Gastrointestinal, Gynecological, Breast, Urological, and Dermatopathology.
  • Provide Clinical Autopsy services.
  • Engage in teaching opportunities through affiliation with Western University's pathology residency program.
  • Collaborate with the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (PaLM) at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).
