About The Position

Essentia Health is hiring a Medical Laboratory Assistant at Superior Clinic in Superior, Wisconsin. The role supports pre-analytical and post-analytical functions within Essentia Health Laboratories and promotes patient safety during specimen collection and processing. Requirements

• Graduate from a Medical Laboratory Assistant program, or complete Essentia Health's internal Medical Laboratory Assistant training program within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Assistant certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
• Recent specimen preparation and processing experience.
• A valid motor vehicle operator's license.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens through venipuncture, capillary skin puncture, and collection of other specimens such as urine and swabs.
• Process and handle specimens according to testing requirements to support clinical laboratory testing.
• Perform laboratory testing when applicable, following accreditation and licensure requirements.
• Participate in training new employees, students, and other personnel as appropriate.
• Follow Essentia Health rules and policies when handling specimens and equipment to ensure safety and quality.
