About The Position

Holy Cross Health, a member of Trinity Health, is a full-service, not-for-profit Catholic teaching hospital in Fort Lauderdale. The 557-bed hospital provides inpatient, outpatient, community outreach, and clinical research services. The Medical Lab Technologist performs laboratory testing and uses appropriate controls and standards, records and evaluates results, and maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment. This is a full-time day-shift position. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in one of the biologic, chemical, or physical sciences.
• At least three years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
• Florida state licensure as a Medical Technologist in more than one clinical area.
• If working night shift, licensure in all clinical areas is required; this position is listed as day shift.

Nice To Haves

• National certification preferred, such as ASCP, HEW, NCA, ASMT, AAB, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and use appropriate controls and/or standards for all tests performed.
• Record data and follow specified guidelines for handling out-of-range results.
• Correlate clerical or technical data and monitor test results for reasonableness.
• Detect discrepancies and take appropriate action.
• Perform and document scheduled and unscheduled equipment maintenance within expected time frames.
• Recognize and troubleshoot most equipment malfunctions without assistance, using control and patient results and equipment performance as guides.
