This position involves performing laboratory services accurately and precisely, adhering to established policies and procedures. The technician will be responsible for performing proficiency testing, practicing infection control, conducting routine and unscheduled maintenance, and ensuring quality control. They will also manage reagents, maintain a clean work area, and follow protocols for patient and specimen identification. Blood collection duties may be required for neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. The role includes verifying specimen adequacy, coordinating tests, investigating abnormal results, and troubleshooting issues. Proficiency in LIS and HIS computer functions is essential, as is staying current with technological advancements and participating in training. Adherence to regulatory guidelines, including CAP and Patient Safety Goals, is mandatory.
