With over 700 employees in hundreds of different roles, Grand Itasca can offer a variety of career opportunities. Medical Lab Technician Full-time 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period) Days, Evenings. Every 3rd weekend rotation Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital Laboratory Department The Medical Lab Technician performs medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required.
  • Eligible for ASCP or equivalent (must obtain within 12-months of hire) required.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.
  • Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and use scientific and technical language and symbols.
  • Recognize slight differences in shape, color, and texture.
  • Use eyes, hands and fingers to operate delicate and sensitive equipment.
  • Work precisely and accurately.
  • Follow technical instructions which may be oral, written, or in the form of charts or drawings.
  • Use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments.
  • Collects and processes all specimen types.
  • Participates in proficiency testing.
  • Ensures that patient results are reported correctly and seek help when corrective action is needed.
  • Follows all quality control and patient reporting processes.
  • Completes competency assessment.
  • Competent with the LIS and HER systems.
