About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) PRN position at Texas Health Denton is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care through nursing education, nursing research, and innovations in nursing practice. This role involves ensuring specimen integrity, managing laboratory operations, maintaining professional accountability, performing test procedures, adhering to quality control and documentation standards, and upholding safety protocols. Texas Health Denton is a 255-bed, full-service hospital that has been serving North Texas and Southern Oklahoma since 1987. It is one of Denton County's largest employers, with over 1,100 employees and 450 physicians. The hospital specializes in a wide range of services including Cancer Care, Critical Care, Neonatology, Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Emergency Care, Heart & Vascular Services, and Women & Infants Care. Texas Health Denton is recognized for its excellence, holding accreditations as a Primary (Level II) Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, and being a Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, as well as a Magnet® designated hospital. The facility includes a four-story specialty center for women and infants, offering comprehensive obstetrical and neonatal intensive care services, making it the city's sole provider and the largest provider of obstetrical services in Denton County.

Requirements

Associate's Degree Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological science preferred; must be attained within 3 months of hire as required.
Or another education equivalent to an associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical technology (must include at least 60 hours or equivalent from an accredited institution that include at a minimum either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include at least 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination is required prior to hire.
Associate's Degree Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological science is preferred upon hire and must be attained within 3 months of hire.
Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program is required.
MLT(ASCP) - Medical Lab Technician MLT(ASCP) or equivalent (AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS- CA, FL, NY state license, Philippine Board of Technical Technology) Registry must be attained within 6 months of hire date. MLT(ASCP) is preferred and required within 6 months of hire.
