About The Position

Performs moderately complex general laboratory testing in the area(s) of licensure under the direction of a Medical Technologist. This role involves performing and reporting routine laboratory testing, verifying results and quality control data, and ensuring proper utilization of reagents and supplies. The technician will also communicate critical results, report unusual findings, and maintain compliance with all policies and procedures.

Requirements

Graduate from an approved school of medical laboratory technician.
Associate degree in related field.
Current Alabama license as a Clinical Laboratory Technician by Alabama Department of Health.
Certified in area(s) of laboratory where assigned.
None.

Responsibilities

Performs and reports routine laboratory testing following established policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of laboratory results within established timeframes.
Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
Performs, evaluates, and documents all quality control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
Demonstrates computer system proficiency including ordering, resulting, and inquiry functions.
Ensures proper utilization and preparation of reagents and supplies.
Communicates critical results to the patient caregiver.
Regularly reports all unusual findings to the immediate supervisor.
Regularly reports work activities and pending work to the oncoming technologist.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
