Medical Lab Technician/Medical Technologist
About The Position
This position is for a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) in the CHEMISTRY, HEMATLOGY & BLOOD BANK department. The role involves accurately processing, analyzing, and reporting laboratory results with minimal supervision, adhering to procedural guidelines, quality control, computer applications, instrumentation troubleshooting, and specimen collection. The MT will exercise professional judgment, interpret complex tests, and may assume lead responsibilities in a supervisor's absence. A $10,000 sign-on/retention bonus is available for qualified candidates with experience.
Requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician Program or related field (for MLT).
- OR already functioning as a MLT within HVHS (Grandfathered) as of June 2004 (for MLT).
- MT /MLS with preferred ASCP certification or BS degree in biological science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience; and ASCP certification (for MT).
- OR Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) through HEW (for MT).
- OR Already functioning as an MT within HVHS (Grandfathered) as of June 2004 (for MT).
Nice To Haves
- MLT (ASCP) certification (for MLT).
- ASCP certification (preferred for MT with BS degree).
Responsibilities
- Accurately processing, analyzing, and reporting laboratory results in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Comprehending and following procedural guidelines in performance of laboratory tests.
- Performing quality control monitoring.
- Utilizing computer applications.
- Troubleshooting instrumentation.
- Adhering to specimen collection and processing requirements.
- Exercising professional judgment in the performance and interpretation of laboratory tests.
- Assuming lead responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor (for MT).
- Performing and interpreting standard, complex, and specialized tests (for MT).
- Implementing and monitoring quality control programs (for MT).
