About The Position

Barnes-Jewish St. Peter's Hospital has a full-time Medical Lab Technician II position to work as a Generalist, including Blood Bank! This is a great opportunity for a Lab Professional who is ASCP registered and enjoys working in a community-based hospital. The role involves 3 12-hour shifts (day) with a weekend/holiday rotation. The hospital proudly serves the healthcare needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln, and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center, the Breast Health and Women’s Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center, and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center. Barnes-Jewish St. Peter's Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. The hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery, and pulmonology. Barnes-Jewish St. Peter's Hospital also offers outpatient services including physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation. At Barnes-Jewish St. Peter's Hospital, every decision is made in the best interest of patients and families. The Laboratory Department provides inpatient and outpatient services.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Physical/Life Science/related
  • ASCP, AMT, AAB or equivalent or eligible
  • No Supervisor Experience

Responsibilities

  • Reports and maintains record of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turn around times for routine testing and stats.
  • Documents patient test management problems/concerns on quality documents and initiates corrective action.
  • Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Monitors quality control performance and corrects any problems and or reports any problems to the appropriate department.
  • Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results. Performs laboratory procedures for specimen collection, processing, test analysis.
  • Trains new personnel in methods, procedures and use of equipment and instruments specific to the assigned area.
