About The Position

The Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) is a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for clinical laboratory testing related to patient care and diagnosis. The position performs routine and specialized laboratory procedures, quality control, preventive maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation. The MLS also participates in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing when assigned. This is a full-time, day-shift position in Microbiology in Topeka, Kansas.

Requirements

Baccalaureate or associate degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
ASCP or equivalent certification; certification in a specific area such as M(ASCP), H(ASCP), or C(ASCP) qualifies.
Maintain certification without a lapse during employment. If certification lapses, the position will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated.
Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory.
Current knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and principles.
