About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, the Medical Lab Scientist obtains patient specimens and performs laboratory tests on blood, urine, body fluids, and feces. The position reports test results according to prescribed laboratory policies and procedures. The Medical Lab Scientist may supervise and operate the laboratory when requested by the laboratory manager and performs other tasks needed to maintain the proper functioning of the department and hospital.

Requirements

• Minimum education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, an Associate Degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician, or equivalent education/clinical work experience.
• Certification by the Board of Registry (ASCP), NCA, AMT, or certification accepted by the State DOH as an MT/MLT is required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as a medical technologist or technician is preferred.
• Clinical rotation experience will be considered for students with a pending graduation date.
