Medical Lab Scientist
About The Position
The Medical Lab Scientist will work in the laboratory at the University of Kansas in Great Bend, Kansas. The schedule is 12-hour evening shifts, with rotating patterns listed as Thursday–Saturday (1500–0300) and Saturday–Wednesday (1500–0100), followed by seven nights on and seven nights off. Weekend work is required on a rotating schedule, and holiday work is required based on the unit’s needs. There are no on-call requirements, and the position does not accept new graduates. Orientation is held virtually on Monday each week and lasts eight hours; it is non-billable. Credentials are due one week before the start date, on Monday. The facility is nicotine-free. Pay is bi-weekly. The client may cancel up to two shifts per month with at least two hours’ notice.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of MLT experience in a hospital setting.
- ASCP, NCA, or AMT certification must be in hand.
- An associate degree or appropriate military training that makes the candidate eligible for ASCP or NCA certification.
- Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) training at an accredited NAACLS training program.
- Must work weekends on a rotating schedule and holidays based on the unit’s needs.
- New graduates are not accepted.
