About The Position

St. Luke's Health System is hiring a Medical Lab Scientist to join the Laboratory team at Nampa Medical Center. The role performs routine clinical laboratory tests used in the treatment and diagnosis of disease. It handles moderately complex issues and requires solid subject-matter knowledge, sound judgment, critical thinking, and flexibility within established processes and departmental procedures. The scientist may serve as a resource for lower-level team members.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific-related field.
No experience required.
Must hold one of the following certifications: Blood Banking (ASCP_BB); Chemistry (ASCP_C); Cytogenetics (CYGT); Hematology (ASCP_H); Microbiology (ASCP_M); Molecular Biology (ASCP_MB); Medical Lab Scientist (ASCP_MLS or AMT_MLS); or Medical Technologist (ASCP_MT or AMT_MT).

Responsibilities

Perform tests on specimens accurately, in an organized and prioritized manner, following laboratory procedures, policies, quality standards, time guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Collect a variety of specimens as required by section needs, with skill and sensitivity to patient needs.
Ensure specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled, and stored.
Perform instrument maintenance according to section procedures.
Independently perform routine and/or more complex quality control, linearity, calibration, and delta checks on laboratory equipment.
Provide guidance to team members on advanced tasks, complex questions, and patient concerns, as needed.
Maintain inventory of supplies.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Maintain necessary records and documentation according to department policy.
Ensure data input is accurate and complete.
Perform other duties as assigned.
