About The Position
The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing complex laboratory tests on patient specimens to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This individual must demonstrate precision, analytical thinking, and a strong understanding of laboratory science and technology. The individual performs diagnostic testing on blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids; operates and maintains laboratory equipment; analyzes test results and reports findings to physicians and other healthcare providers; ensures quality control and compliance with safety protocols; maintains accurate patient records and laboratory documentation; and collaborates with healthcare professionals to interpret results and support patient care.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and computer skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with laboratory safety standards and procedures
- Certification from recognized bodies such as MLS/H/C/BB ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or AMT (American Medical Technologists) within 18 months of hire
