Vitalant is one of the nation's largest nonprofit blood and biotherapies healthcare organizations, providing hospitals and patients across the U.S. a safe blood supply, specialized laboratory services, transfusion medicine expertise and world-renowned research. Vitalant provides blood and special services to patients in more than 900 hospitals across the U.S. and hosts approximately 60,000 blood drives annually.

Requirements

  • Medical Lab Generalist: Bachelor's degree in a CLIA approved program (Biology, chemistry, medical science etc.) required. no experience required.
  • Medical Lab Scientist I: Bachelor's degree in medical Lab Science or MLS certification required. Certification as MLS required within 6 months of employment.
  • Medical Lab Scientist II: MLS/BB certification required. 2 years in a clinical laboratory setting required.

Nice To Haves

  • Fast track to MLS in just over one year (for Medical Lab Generalist).
  • Certification as MLS required within 6 months of employment (for Medical Lab Scientist I).

Responsibilities

  • Perform high complexity testing in immunohematology, including antibody identification, antigen typing, absorptions, elution, and cross match.
  • Review and report test results.
  • Participate in investigative studies.
  • Participate in quality control, preventative maintenance, and validations.
