The Medical Laboratory Technician II (MLT) is responsible for performing routine and special diagnostic procedures on blood, tissues, and other body specimens. This role requires technical skill, judgment, and independent decision-making following established standards, policies, and procedures. The MLT assists the Laboratory Supervisor in technical and administrative functions, performs phlebotomy and accessioning duties as needed, and ensures the quality of test results. The position involves operating laboratory instruments, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and handling information using systems like Cerner/STAR. Effective communication with colleagues, supervisors, pathologists, and other healthcare professionals is essential. The role also requires adherence to laboratory and hospital policies, safety regulations, and maintaining patient confidentiality. This is a Joint Commission requirement position that involves direct or indirect patient care across various age groups.
