About The Position

Welcome to our dynamic Laboratory Services Department. Relocation Assistance Available. Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is a non-profit hospital located in Sarasota, Florida. Our health care system and laboratory are growing, with a new hospital in Venice, Florida and a new Cancer Institute. Our laboratory is one of the most progressive and automated laboratories in the country, and we have recently insourced our Blood Bank patient testing services. The positions posted are additions due to growth. We are seeking additional Medical Laboratory Scientist positions in our Blood Bank, Core Laboratory, and Microbiology. Requirements

  • Medical Lab Scientists: Require a Bachelor’s degree in a health science program or medical laboratory science. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience can be considered in lieu of required degree. Employees hired prior to 1/1/09 are grandfathered into this position.
  • Medical Lab Scientists: Require current Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) license under Chapter 483, Part IV, Florida Statute: 61F-5; or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire date. Note: Limited scope of practice will be utilized until licensure has been obtained. Limited Scope: Results entry will not be performed.
  • Medical Lab Technicians: Require Associate’s degree in health related field. Employees hired prior to 1/1/09 or new hires with licensures awarded prior to 1/1/09, are exempt from the degree requirement.
  • Medical Lab Technicians: Require qualification as an ASCP, AMT, NCA, or an equivalent medical technician.
  • Medical Lab Technicians: Require current technician license required under Chapter 483, Part IV, Florida Statute 61F-5, or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire date
