The Medical Laboratory Scientist II provides state-of-the-art laboratory specimen testing, including phlebotomy, from neonates to geriatric patients ensuring patient safety. This role involves processing and testing blood and other body fluid specimens, reviewing test results, and reporting them accurately using a laboratory information system. The scientist will also perform operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment, as well as venous and capillary phlebotomy. Additional responsibilities include writing procedures, assisting in policy development, acting as a resource for other laboratory personnel, assisting with new equipment validation and implementation, training, competency assessment, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, quality control, and instrument maintenance. The role may also involve assisting with R&D projects, relaying orders, taking inventory, stocking supplies, utilizing resources efficiently, maintaining a safe environment, addressing patient population-specific needs, and participating in Performance Improvement activities.
