About The Position

The Medical Lab Scientist I is responsible for performing lab tests and analyses to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The MLS I performs clinical testing in at least two of the following departments: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, or Microbiology. Team members working second or third shifts must be competent in all areas mentioned above. The MLS I is responsible for operating laboratory equipment, preparing specimens, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory, Chemical, or Biological Science OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution that either includes, or is accompanied by, the required coursework in medical laboratory or biological sciences, and laboratory training and/or equivalent experience as defined in 42 CFR §493.1423 for personnel performing high complexity testing.
Certification as a Medical Lab Scientist or eligible for certification to be obtained within 12 months of date of hire.
Accurate performance and collection of tests while maintaining patient confidentiality.
Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and equipment.
Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to work different shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.
