Emory Medical Laboratory's mission is to transform health and healing by providing high quality, cost-effective, innovative laboratory services which enhance patient health. We're seeking an experienced Medical Lab Scientist / Medical Technologist I with a Core Lab background. This role performs various laboratory tests and procedures while adhering to standard operating procedures on patient specimens to assist in the diagnosis, study and treatment, or prevention of disease. The position may involve performing tests such as standardized and semi-routine biological, chemical, hematological, immunological, immunohematological, microbiological, and serological tests in a research or clinical laboratory. The Medical Lab Scientist will operate laboratory equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and may assist in the implementation of new equipment and procedures. Responsibilities also include preparing reagents, assisting with ordering and inventorying lab supplies, and being responsible for quality control. The role involves evaluating the validity of acceptable specimens and test results, comparing them to previous results and other laboratory data, and referring abnormal or unexpected results to the appropriate individual(s). Documentation of corrective actions for out-of-range test values is also required. The role may also perform venipuncture or capillary puncture to obtain blood specimens, and perform other related duties as required.
