The Medical Laboratory Scientist II, acting as Testing Personnel as defined by CLIA, performs waived and non-waived testing under general supervision, adhering to department policies and standard operating procedures. This role requires independent work, efficiency, and organization to ensure accurate results and records, and a professional level of knowledge to interpret test results for diagnosis and treatment. The Medical Laboratory Scientist II may also serve as a General Supervisor as defined by CLIA, overseeing daily laboratory operations and personnel, including Quality Control (QC) review, training, competency assessment, and inventory management, under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager and Clinical Supervisors. Testing personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting results, performing only authorized tests commensurate with their skills and experience. This position does not require patient care.
