About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Lead Medical Lab Scientist 2 to join their Laboratory Pathology team in Nashville, Tennessee. This role involves a working understanding of medical technology, problem recognition, and strong communication skills, particularly under high-stress situations. The position requires competence in providing patient care across all age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The Lead Medical Lab Scientist 2 will work with management to optimize operational processes, meet quality performance standards, and participate in employee selection and training. They will also assist in developing and implementing quality control/assurance programs and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Responsibilities

Works with manager to enable the team to optimize operational processes and meet quality performance standards within the Laboratory service.
Participates in the employee selection process, assures staff are properly trained and meet competencies, identifies training needs, provides feedback for performance evaluation.
