Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist for its Esoteric Coagulation Laboratory. This challenging and rewarding career opportunity involves performing a comprehensive menu of complex specialized coagulation assays using both automated and manual methods. The laboratory utilizes techniques such as ELISA, FRET, and semi-automated gel electrophoresis. Additionally, the role includes performing platelet function testing, including platelet function screens, platelet aggregation, and Serotonin Release assays for heparin-induced thrombocytopenia. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and validation of new assays and analyzers, participate in educational presentations, and maintain meticulous documentation to meet accreditation requirements. This position is located at The Vanderbilt Clinic (TVC) and requires working every third weekend, with potential for occasional overtime. The role is responsible for performing routine and complex clinical pathology testing, instrument management, accurately recording results, and ensuring timely delivery of patient results. The Medical Laboratory Scientist has the authority, responsibility, and accountability for the accurate performance of laboratory test methodologies, which are crucial for patient diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring response to treatment.
