About The Position

Baptist Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant II to join their Lab Outreach team at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville. This position is a PRN, day shift role, with potential variations in shifts between Monday and Saturday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Baptist Health is a leading healthcare provider in Northeast Florida, known for its comprehensive care and multiple centers of excellence. The Baptist Jacksonville facility is Magnet™ designated. The role involves pre- and post-analytical handling of laboratory specimens and results, communicating results, responding to specimen-related inquiries, collecting blood specimens, and utilizing computer functions. This is a full-time, day shift opportunity located at Baptist Jacksonville, specifically within the Hill Breast Center in Downtown.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent training/experience
Phlebotomy certification (e.g., ASCP, AMT)
BLS certification
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
Proficiency in computer skills, including EMR/EHR systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

Experience with laboratory outreach services
Knowledge of laboratory information systems (LIS)

Responsibilities

Performing a variety of clerical and technical duties associated with the pre- and post-analytical handling of laboratory specimens and results.
Communicating laboratory results and responds to specimen-related questions from physicians and various other caregivers.
Collecting blood specimens for routine and special laboratory procedures.
Utilizing computer functions.
