About The Position

This role involves carrying out the duties of a medical interpreter, with a primary focus on lesser acute appointments. The position may assist with higher acuity appointments based on business needs. The Medical Interpreter will receive training and guidance from Medical Interpreter II, Medical Interpreter III, and the Quality Assurance team. This role supports clinical teams to enhance successful outcomes and patient satisfaction. Key responsibilities include monitoring self-performance, providing information on the role and its limitations to patients and providers, utilizing a terminology glossary, and actively completing training. Documentation of encounters within the Language Services dispatching system is required, along with the use of online computer systems like Outlook Express and Microsoft Suite, and Epic as needed. The role may also involve ad hoc translation or review tasks and on-call interpreting duties based on business needs. The job may be physically demanding.

Requirements

  • Spanish language proficiency
  • Ability to document encounters within the Language Services dispatching system.
  • Proficiency in using online computer systems such as Outlook Express.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite is preferred.
  • Usage of Epic as required.

Responsibilities

  • Receive training and guidance form Medical interpreter II and Medical Interpreter III and Quality Assurance team.
  • Support and help Clinical teams in their duties and responsibilities to increase successful outcomes and patient satisfaction with the hospital.
  • Monitor self-performance with regards to interpreting skills.
  • Help provide information on role and limitations of role to both patients and providers to contribute to a successful encounter.
  • Utilize terminology glossary created by Medical Interpreter III and Quality Assurance team.
  • Actively complete training and education developed by Medical Interpreter III and Quality Assurance team.
  • Document encounters within the Language Services dispatching system.
  • Utilize on-line computer systems such as Outlook Express, some knowledge of Microsoft Suite is preferred, and usage of Epic as required.
  • May be asked to help with translations or reviews on ad hoc manner.
  • May be asked to help with on-call interpreting needs based on business need.
