About The Position

Serves as an Ultrasound Technologist at Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, NC, independently performing complex and highly specialized procedures for the Radiology Department. This is a Civilian MEDICAL INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN (ULTRASOUND) position. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Requirements

  • US Citizens
  • One year of specialized experience performing a variety of ultrasound examinations of human patients such obstetrical, extremities, transvaginal, and/or deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
  • One year of specialized experience setting up, adjusting, or maintaining ultrasound diagnostic equipment.
  • One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Sonography or Radiology.
  • A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ultrasound examinations of human patients to aid in the diagnosis of disease or injury.
  • Explain ultrasound examining process to the patient.
  • Conduct training for personnel in ultrasound principles, procedures, capabilities, techniques and equipment operation.
  • Perform operator level maintenance and care of ultrasound equipment.
