About The Position

ImageCare Latham is seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Imaging Technologist, Xray, to join our Radiology team. In this role, you will operate Xray equipment to perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures for patients, while ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process. This is a per diem position, weekdays and weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year AMA-approved college or technical school.
  • Valid state licensure as a radiologic technologist.
  • Must have or work towards certification.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current with continuing education requirements to maintain ARRT certification.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Operate X-ray equipment to capture detailed images of various body parts for diagnostic purposes.
  • Prepare patients for X-ray procedures by explaining the process, obtaining medical histories, and addressing any concerns.
  • Position patients accurately on the X-ray table or in appropriate positions to ensure optimal imaging of the targeted area.
  • Adhere to radiation safety protocols, including proper use of lead shielding and minimizing radiation exposure to patients and staff.
  • Adjust X-ray machine settings such as exposure parameters and image quality controls based on the specific diagnostic requirements.
  • Monitor and assess the quality of X-ray images, making necessary adjustments to ensure clarity and diagnostic value.
  • Identify and correct imaging artifacts or distortions to produce clear, usable images.
  • Continuously monitor patients during the X-ray procedure for signs of discomfort or adverse reactions and provide support as needed.
  • Administer and manage contrast agents if required for specific imaging studies, following safety and procedural protocols.
  • Accurately document all imaging procedures, patient interactions, and any incidents or anomalies encountered during the procedure.
  • Work closely with radiologists to review imaging requirements, discuss findings, and provide additional imaging as requested.
