About The Position

The Medical Imaging Tech Assistant provides direct support to patients, technologists, nurses, and providers to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate care within the Medical Imaging department. This role assists with patient preparation, transport, positioning, procedural support, quality activities, and workflow coordination across multiple imaging modalities, while maintaining compliance with departmental protocols and patient safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (or Equivalent Certificate from an accredited program) or higher degree
  • Two (2) or more years of clinical hospital experience
  • Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within 14 calendar days of start date
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and staff.
  • Ability to handle extremely stressful and emotional situations.
  • Ability to demonstrates sound judgment, attention to detail, and independent work initiative.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to explain directions and assist patients throughout the imaging process.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to safely transport, position, and assist patients utilizing proper body mechanics.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a medical imaging environment
  • Venipuncture experience
  • Completion of ARRT Imaging Assistant Certification

Responsibilities

  • Greets, assists, and escorts patients throughout the imaging process while promoting a positive patient experience.
  • Assists technologists, nurses, and providers with patient preparation, positioning, transfer, and procedural support activities while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
  • Provides support across multiple imaging modalities including Diagnostic Imaging, MRI, CT, Mammography, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and Interventional Radiology as assigned.
  • Prepares imaging rooms, procedure areas, and equipment for scheduled patients and procedures.
  • Cleans and restocks imaging rooms between patients in accordance with infection prevention and departmental standards.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, quality assurance programs, infection prevention practices, and safety standards.
  • Assists with quality control procedures, surveys, equipment checks, and regulatory activities as directed.
  • Monitors departmental workflow and assists in maintaining efficient patient throughput and operational readiness.
  • Maintains supplies and assists with inventory management activities.
  • Communicates effectively with technologists, nurses, providers, patients, and other team members to facilitate efficient patient care.
  • Participates in workflow improvement, quality improvement, and patient experience initiatives.
  • Participates in competency development, continuing education, and professional growth activities supporting advancement within Medical Imaging, including preparation for ARRT Imaging Assistant certification.
  • Maintains a positive work environment by demonstrating positive interpersonal relations with co-workers, physicians, patients and others.
  • Supports and follows hospital, departmental and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Assigned to other Medical Imaging modalities and departments as operational as needed.
