Medical Historian Position- Part Time Evening shifts (20 hours)
About The Position
This part-time role at BioLife, a Takeda company, focuses on collecting high-quality plasma that becomes life-changing medicine. The position requires a commitment to customer service and quality, reporting to the Plasma Center Manager. The Medical Historian will function as a plasma donor screener and perform phlebotomy to support plasma center operations. The role is designed to be flexible, with shifts typically lasting 4 to 6 hours, 3+ days per week, and offers paid, interactive training. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to walk and/or stand for the entire work shift
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to lean, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach above shoulders and below knees
- Ability to lift to 5 lbs., and occasional lifting of materials up to 32 lbs. and rarely 50 lbs.
- Fine motor coordination, depth perception, and ability to hear equipment from a distance
- Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens (risk level 1), requiring prolonged glove wear for 90% of work tasks
- 1 or more years minimum experience working in a customer or patient facing role is helpful
- Current license or certification in the state where duties will be assigned: Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT1), Certified Phlebotomy Technician 2 (CPT2), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
Responsibilities
- Answer phones, greet and focus on donors, while ensuring the safety of donors and the team.
- Screen new and repeat donors and take and record donor vital signs and finger stick results.
- Use the Donor Information System, prepare donor charts, maintain accurate records, and coordinate donor compensation.
- Help identify operational opportunities for continuous improvement and initiate changes to center processes using company-approved procedures.
- Work a variety of shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, to support donors.
