About The Position
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the quality of health care in Florida. We are seeking to hire a Medical Health Care Program Analyst who desires to work to enhance the delivery of health care services through the Florida Medicaid Program. This position requires a candidate who is creative, flexible, innovative, and who will thrive in a fast-paced, team based work environment. This position is located in the Bureau of Medicaid Program Finance (MPF). MPF manages and projects Florida’s $33.8 billion Medicaid Services budget, oversees financial reporting of the Agency’s contracted Medicaid health plans, calculates both institutional and non-institutional Medicaid reimbursement rates, and disburses supplemental payments to Medicaid providers. This position is responsible for reviewing Nursing Home Cost Reports for accuracy, applicable requirements and audit potential in accordance with State and Federal guidelines. This position requires advanced Excel experience. The individual hired into this position will also prepare financial information to be sent to contract CPA firms for audit and archiving, assist in the design and implementation of various cost reporting and data collection techniques, and create ad hoc reports when required. They will also assist with providing technical advice and assistance to contract auditors, other areas within the Agency, and other governmental agencies on cost report requirements and audit reports. The incumbent will also conduct training programs to maintain and improve the professional standards and qualifications of the audit staff, as well as other related staff within the Bureau. The incumbent will perform related work, as required. A good attendance record is essential for any individual in this position as the work involved occurs daily and is time sensitive. The individual in this position is expected to report to work daily and on time. This advertisement may be used to fill multiple vacancies. This position will report to the Headquarters in Tallahassee. This position is not a remote or telework position.
Requirements
- Advanced Excel experience.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of the methods of compiling and analyzing data.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate financial data.
- Ability to develop various reports.
- Ability to prioritize work load.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others.
- Two years of experience related to accounting, mathematics, auditing, or financial analysis; OR Two years of experience researching, analyzing, and reconciling financial data.
- Two years of professional experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is preferred.
- A good attendance record is essential for any individual in this position as the work involved occurs daily and is time sensitive.
- The individual in this position is expected to report to work daily and on time.

- Candidates who have a bachelor's degree or a more advanced degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant discipline such as accounting, mathematics, finance, economics, or statistics.
