About The Position

This full-time Medical Front Office Clerk position will have a 40 hour/week schedule, and is located in Pasadena, CA. The schedule is as follows: Weekdays from 10am-7pm (variable 1pm-10pm) Weekend rotation from 6:15am-3:15pm (every other week, in a lieu of weekday). In this vital role you will be the first point of contact with patients and visitors; you will serve as a liaison between patients and medical support staff. The ideal candidate will need to communicate well, be organized, and to take initiative to provide the best patient care possible.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or GED.
  • One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office or imaging center setting.
  • Word processing and computer experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic medical terminology and computer skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of insurance both Commercial and Managed Care.
  • Basic understanding of ICD-10 and CPT codes.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Books, coordinates and reschedules patients’ appointments.
  • Relays necessary messages to staff.
  • Greets and checks in patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner.
  • Verifies necessary information and records in the medical record.
  • Maintains and updates current information on physicians and technologists schedules.
  • Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information.
  • Answers questions regarding patient appointments and testing.
  • Assembles patients’ charts for next day visit.
  • Updates profiles on all patients.
  • Type correspondence as directed.
  • Sorts and delivers mail, medical records, and other correspondence.
  • Oversees waiting area, coordinates patient movement, reports problems or irregularities.
  • Check email daily.
  • Turn on computer.
  • Turn off all computers at the end of the day.
  • Assist with the setup and cleanup of patient exam rooms.
  • Clean and disinfect various areas in the imaging center as directed.
  • Clean dressing rooms and waiting areas.
  • Wipe and clean commonly touched areas with sanitizing products.
  • Cleanup exam rooms after each exam and disinfect with sanitizing products.
  • Order supplies as needed.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Will work other shifts, including alternating weekends when needed.
  • Will work at other locations when needed.
  • Must be able to work varying shifts and, when required, report to different work locations based on operational and business needs.
