About The Position

This is an opening for a front office, non-clinical position at a locally owned urgent care company. The company, owned by physicians, is expanding its operational care support team. They are seeking a qualified candidate who is a reliable and committed team player, comfortable with technology/computers, and takes pride in their work. The role involves providing administrative support to the back office clinical team and acting as the main point person for all front office duties. A successful candidate must have experience performing administrative duties in a doctor's office, surgical clinic, or hospital. Key responsibilities include answering the telephone, registering patients on the EMR system, verifying insurance eligibility, collecting patient payments, scanning documents, maintaining accounts receivable, assisting the medical team and healthcare provider administratively, and greeting patients and visitors with a friendly and welcoming demeanor, as customer service is the top priority. The position requires clear, consistent written and oral communication skills, professional telephone etiquette, efficiency in handling multiple demanding tasks, proficient computer skills, working knowledge of Outlook and Microsoft Word, and basic familiarity with an electronic medical records system. The company offers a work schedule designed for work/life balance, requiring weekend flexibility every other week. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one year experience in an administrative or front desk receptionist role
  • Experience performing administrative duties associated with a doctor's office, surgical clinic or hospital
  • Clear, consistent written and oral communication skills
  • Professional telephone etiquette
  • Ability to work efficiently and pleasantly while handling multiple demanding tasks
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Working knowledge of Outlook
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word
  • Basic familiarity with using an electronic medical records system
  • Understanding of the concepts of universal precautions, HIPAA and OSHA

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in an Urgent Care facility preferred
  • Previous experience in a medical setting is preferred
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding is a plus
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and terminology is a plus
  • Proficiency in using Google Suite or similar software

Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients and visitors at the front desk with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
  • Answer phone calls, take messages, and direct calls to appropriate staff members.
  • Schedule appointments and manage the appointment calendar.
  • Check-in patients, verify insurance information, and collect patient payments.
  • Register patients on the EMR system and update patient records.
  • Scan documents.
  • Maintain accounts receivable.
  • Assist the medical team and healthcare provider in administrative capacities.
  • Perform data entry tasks and maintain accurate records in the computer system.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and emails.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk area.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks as needed.
