About The Position

The Office of Licensure and Certification (OLC), Acute Care Division, is seeking a Medical Facilities Inspector Supervisor to conduct onsite surveys/inspections and complaint investigations of home care agencies. Duties include state certification, validation, and complaints; Virginia state licensures inspections, interpretation of state laws and regulations to ensure compliance; and the preparation of written findings. This position is designated as a mobile worker role, requiring approximately 80% travel throughout the workweek. The primary service area is Northern Virginia; however, occasional travel outside of this region may be required based on operational needs. Applicants should be health care professionals with sufficient clinical experience to evaluate the delivery of healthcare. Must be able to evaluate health-related services to determine adherence to established regulations and standards, effectively communicate detailed information verbally and in writing, and possess strong organizational skills to plan and execute a schedule of travel to meet deadlines. Travel is expected throughout the state of Virginia with overnight stays as necessary, utilizing a personal vehicle until a state car is available and assigned. A valid driver’s license in the state of Virginia is required. This position currently offers a sign-on bonus of $5,000 and 40 hours of front-loaded annual leave time with a one-year written agreement for external candidates.

Requirements

Ability to communicate orally and in writing in an articulate and legally defensible manner.
Knowledge of quality-of-care issues, health care operations, management, and service delivery systems.
Ability to interpret and consistently apply laws and regulations and understand the consequence of violations.
Management skills in planning, analysis, scheduling, team building, and providing customer services.
General knowledge of MS Office Suite.
Ability to supervise a diverse workforce, which may be dispersed throughout the state in home-based offices.
Must obtain medical clearance for fit testing in accordance with OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) within 90 days of hire date and annually (except for Complaint Unit).
Valid driver’s license in the state of Virginia.

Nice To Haves

Prior Medical Facilities Inspector (MFI) experience.
Knowledge of healthcare compliance regulations.
Prior supervisory experience.
Registered Nurse License (RN) experience.
If working in LTC and/or Complaint unit, must obtain SMQT Certification within 12 months of hire date.
