About The Position

This contract position involves providing Medical Examiner and Forensic Pathology services in support of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), specifically the Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG) and Behavioral Analysis Units (BAUs). The role will focus on child and adult death investigations, offering forensic pathology consultation and clinical pathology services. The position requires national travel and eligibility for a federal background investigation. The workload expectation is approximately 0.5 FTE (960 hours annually), with core working hours between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, though the clinical shift schedule is typically between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. The coverage period is from May 15, 2026, ongoing.

Requirements

Active and unrestricted U.S. medical license required
Board Certified in Forensic Pathology and Anatomic Pathology
Completion of pathology residency required
Clinical or Forensic Pathology fellowship documentation required if applicable
DEA required if applicable
Minimum ten (10) years of forensic pathology experience required
Expertise in pediatric and adult forensic investigations
Strong written communication and presentation skills
Strong interpersonal and consultative skills
Ability to support federal investigative operations
Must be eligible to successfully pass federal background investigation
