Overview The Medical Equipment Technician performs cleaning, low-level disinfection, and reprocessing of medical equipment. This role includes the delivery and retrieval of medical equipment across the organization, ensuring timely and efficient service. The technician maintains appropriate inventory levels by restocking storerooms according to departmental periodic automatic replenishment (PAR) standards and provides support to end-users with equipment-related needs and troubleshooting. Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training
  • Hospital experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Cleans, disinfects, calibrates, and prepares medical equipment, devices, and accessories for safe redistribution, following manufacturer and hospital guidelines.
  • Coordinates with Clinical Engineering for performance checks and preventive maintenance, documents equipment status, and ensures proper storage and inventory rotation using first-in, first-out FIFO methods.
  • Delivers and retrieves medical equipment across the facility, ensuring timely response to clinical requests and proper handling of devices.
  • Maintains working knowledge of equipment and unit layouts, collects soiled items for reprocessing or repair, and supports efficient equipment flow to meet patient care needs.
  • Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory levels of medical equipment across department storerooms based on periodic automatic replenishment (PAR) levels.
  • Submits orders when stock is low, manages rental equipment documentation, and coordinates with vendors to ensure timely delivery and billing accuracy.
  • Responds to units for assistance concerning non-functioning equipment and safety check requests that occur after hours.
  • Correct identified issues and verify equipment's preventative maintenance has been completed.
