About The Position

The Medical Dosimetrist works as part of the radiation oncology treatment-planning team under the direction of Medical Physics, supporting clinical and operational oversight of the dosimetry service. The role designs or guides radiotherapy treatment planning, optimizes radiation-field arrangements and exposures, and communicates plan details to Radiation Therapists so patients are treated according to physicians’ prescriptions. The position provides technical expertise and operational leadership, including guidance and mentorship for other dosimetrists, workflow optimization, coordination of quality assurance, and collaboration with physicians and other radiation oncology team members. The role also supports continuous improvement in patient care, adoption of technology, and compliance with regulatory standards. The position is based in a patient-care environment with potential radiation exposure. It involves working with computer equipment and physics devices, and sitting, standing, and moving about. Staff must follow infection-control precautions for patients or materials requiring isolation. Staff vaccination against influenza is a condition of employment.
