About The Position

The Medical Director is responsible for providing primary medical care and treatment to residents of the Rockingham County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. This position plans and directs the facility’s medical policies and programs in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team, ensuring quality care and regulatory compliance. The Medical Director also provides medical leadership to the medical and nursing teams and coordinates medical coverage for residents. We are committed to providing preventative and restorative care to all residents and clients here at Rockingham County. The Medical Director plays a key role in ensuring residents receive safe, evidence-based, individualized medical care.

Requirements

  • Must hold MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
  • Five (5) to (10) years of Long Term Care (or equivalent) managerial experience
  • Must hold a valid New Hampshire State Physician License
  • Must provide proof of valid malpractice insurance
  • CPR / Basic Life Support (BLS) certified

Responsibilities

  • Providing primary medical care
  • Assessing resident health status
  • Diagnosing conditions
  • Developing and evaluating plans of care
  • Reviewing medical records and test results
  • Collaborating with nursing staff, physicians, and other health professionals
  • Implementing resident care policies related to admissions, transfers, discharges, infection control, physician practices, resident incidents, ancillary services, medication use, and overall quality of care
  • Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Maintaining regulatory compliance mandated by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services
  • Participating in the facility’s Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs
  • Providing medical leadership
  • Supervising and advising medical department professional providers
  • Assisting with continuing education, training, and orientation of nursing staff
  • Participating in departmental planning, medical budget and equipment needs, and the development of goals and objectives
  • Acting as a consultant to the Director of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner regarding resident care services
  • Coordinating and providing medical backup to ensure 24-hour medical coverage, including on-call coverage
  • Supporting Assisted Living in identified emergent situations
