ABOUT THE ROLE As a Medical Director for Daymark in Michigan, you will be a hands-on clinical leader for the populations of patients with cancer we serve. Reporting to Daymark’s Michigan Medical Director, you will combine clinical expertise and operational excellence to deliver on our mission — supporting patients with cancer and their oncology providers through world-class supportive oncology care delivered in the home and virtually. You are a practicing physician in Michigan with oncology or related specialty board certification who believes better is possible for patients with cancer.Daymark anticipates hiring one to two Medical Directors in Michigan.

Requirements

  • Board-certified physician (MD or DO) in medical, radiation, or surgical oncology, or a closely related specialty like hospice and palliative medicine, internal medicine, family medicine, or geriatrics
  • Active, unrestricted Michigan medical license (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Experienced Advanced Practice Providers (NP or PA) with demonstrated leadership track record in these areas
  • At least 5 years of experience practicing supportive oncology care, including direct patient care
  • Comfortable being accountable for the clinical care of your teams
  • Significant experience (5+ years) managing clinically complex patients with cancer throughout the care continuum, including end-of-life care
  • Comfortable leading serious illness and goals-of-care conversations
  • Comfortable with technology, able to learn new systems and tools
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where programs and processes are still being built and improved
  • Available 4+ days per week; a minimum of 3 days per week is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience delivering home-based or virtual care is strongly preferred
  • Natural mentor and clinical leader who elevates the practice of the clinicians around you, including NPs, RNs, and other care team members

Responsibilities

  • Lead our care team and deliver supportive care to patients with cancer, including supportive oncology patient care, palliative care, second opinions, clinical trial advisory, and documentation integrity
  • Care for high-acuity and clinically complex patients across our hybrid model, including home-based and virtual visits, and manage clinical escalations from the care team.
  • Participate in supportive oncology on-call coverage to support patients and the care team.
  • Provide day-to-day clinical supervision, mentorship, and case-based teaching for the market's Nurse Practitioners, RNs, and other clinical staff.
  • Participate in and lead interdisciplinary case conferences and huddles, ensuring complex patients have clear, well-communicated care plans.
  • Champion a culture of clinical excellence, continuous learning, and evidence-based practice within the care team.
  • Uphold Daymark's clinical policies, documentation standards, and quality measures in daily practice, and help the team consistently deliver on them.
  • Partner with the Market Medical Director and Daymark's national clinical leadership to refine care pathways, workflows, and programs, bringing frontline insight into how the care model performs for complex, seriously ill, and home-based patients.
