About The Position

Valius is building a diagnostics and bioinformatics company to power the future of cancer care, focusing on maximalist diagnostics: deep, comprehensive assessments of DNA, RNA, and protein. The company aims to provide patients and their care teams with the best possible understanding of how their tumor works and its vulnerabilities. Valius has successfully applied this approach to patients with challenging cancers, identifying plausible therapeutic targets not previously discovered. With a recent $13.5M seed round, Valius is scaling its patient volume and integrating new diagnostic modalities and analytical approaches into clinical care.

Requirements

  • M.D./Ph.D. or M.D.
  • 6+ years of experience in clinical research or practice at an academic cancer center
  • Deep understanding of clinical and molecular genetics (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, protein evaluation)
  • Strong track record conducting clinical research, including experience overseeing clinical trials
  • Published research in a peer-reviewed oncology or molecular medicine journal
  • Experience communicating directly with patients and/or their care teams
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to our patient-focused mission
  • Interest in working for a small, early-stage startup

Responsibilities

  • Meet with patients and their care teams to contextualize diagnostic findings and discuss therapeutic options.
  • Design and oversee Valius’s evidence-generation strategy, including scoping and guiding research studies.
  • Cultivate relationships with oncologists, research institutions, and pharmaceutical companies to advance research, expand awareness, and facilitate patient access to therapies.
  • Contribute to the scientific development of Valius’s product by informing future analyses and services with clinical expertise.
  • Interpret patient diagnostic data to identify and present potential therapeutic options in partnership with the translational science team.
  • Help patients and their care teams understand the efficacy, safety, and accessibility of identified therapeutic options.
  • Determine the types of research studies Valius should conduct to validate its approach and guide their execution.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with leading oncologists and institutions to advance research and expand clinical reach.
  • Guide product development from a clinical perspective in partnership with the science and R&D teams.
