Reporting to the Senior Medical Director of UM, the Per Diem UM Medical Director will be responsible for performing daily medical reviews, appeals, participating in appeal panels, correspondence regarding review determinations, and physician peer review activities. This role involves identifying and implementing evidence-based practice guidelines throughout the provider network, overseeing the quality of clinical care for network and non-network providers, and utilizing evidence-based standards in making coverage determinations. The position also requires adherence to management policies and meeting health plan inter-rater reliability guidelines. The work arrangement is fully remote, with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 hours per week, including evening, weekend, and holiday coverage. The Medical Director will ensure the provision of quality and clinically sound services, serve as a medical advisor, and assure that organization medical policies and procedures adhere to contractual obligations. This includes performing clinical case reviews, maintaining knowledge of medical procedures and regulations, and managing day-to-day operations to optimize the use of behavioral and physical health services. Collaboration with Quality Improvement and Medical Excellence departments is key for developing interventions, ensuring programs meet contractual obligations, and developing competent clinical staff. The role involves attending case management meetings, collaborating with the integrated case management team, and thoroughly documenting all care coordination activity in the electronic case management documentation system, adhering to AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies (ACFC) policies and procedures and supporting the ACFC mission and values.
