About The Position

This position can be based remotely anywhere in the U.S. The Medical Director (or Senior Medical Director commensurate with experience) provides critical input into strategic planning, tactical planning and implementation, as well as budget planning. The Medical Director will drive strong collaboration and co-leadership of the products with colleagues in Global, US Medical, US Commercial, and other cross-functional partners. Specific responsibilities will include the implementation, design and execution of clinical trials in Neuroscience, leadership of advisory boards and other engagements with Medical Experts, development of the data generation plan and development and implementation of medical communication strategy, conducting field force training, active participation in promotional and non-promotional material development and review, and various internal and external presentations, lead insights across medical functions, clinical care gaps outcome and strategy for NOGE. While a key focus of the four role openings will be on neuromuscular diseases, the roles require adaptability and leadership across a range of neuroscience pipeline and portfolio products.

Requirements

  • Doctorate level degree (MD, PharmD, DO, or PhD in Health Sciences or related field) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)/ Physician’s Assistant (PA) degree with significant relevant clinical experience required.
  • >5 years’ experience in progressively senior roles within clinical development and/or medical affairs roles in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry or academic institution/clinical practice.
  • The position will be filled at level commensurate with experience: Medical Director or Senior Medical Director.
  • Clinical research experience – including concept and protocol development – conducted in a pharmaceutical or equivalent environment is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of clinical trial operations and experience driving patient recruitment solutions, is preferred.
  • Strong track record of positive, productive interactions with Medical Experts and Investigators, and demonstrated ability to build trusting working relationships with external medical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated track record of driving and managing complex projects to completion with urgency, while effectively managing multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and work collaboratively with multiple cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and comfort with complexity, with strong strategic, analytical, and conceptual thinking ability.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical Degree (MD) or equivalent preferred.
  • Established relationships with Medical Experts and Professional Societies in Neuroscience space is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate solid competencies as a Medical Leader within the US Medical Affairs organization.
  • Build positive, effective partnerships with Medical and Commercial as well as US and Global colleagues.
  • Serve as the medical lead for assigned neuroscience programs, with a primary focus on neuromuscular diseases, while supporting broader neuroscience initiatives as needed.
  • Support Medical Affairs activities in line with the Integrated Product Strategy Team (IPST) which drives product strategy.
  • Key member of the cross-functional Medical Strategy Team (MST), which drives Medical tactical development and excellence in execution.
  • Work effectively with secondary data analytics team, incorporate AI in medical tactics.
  • Actively explore, plan, and implement innovative communications solutions – including through digital channels – in order to address strategic and scientific gaps.
  • Provide support of Investigator-Initiated Trial (IIT) programs and lead Research Collaborations (RC).
  • Co-develop a strong medical engagement plan with team, incorporating diverse Medical functions and capabilities.
  • Foster strong relationships with National, Regional and Local Medical Experts, including Investigators; drive advisory boards and partner with Field Medical on insight-gathering initiatives to support the Medical Expert Engagement Strategy.
  • Collaborate with Commercial colleagues in promotional material development and review, field force training, etc.
