About The Position

Serve as a visible and active advocate for the PA Program, supporting its mission, goals, and long-term sustainability. This position may have occasional evening/weekend hours to meet the needs of the program. The work schedule is as needed. May require some travel between clinical/fieldwork sites.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of: Medicine (MD), or Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or Physician Assistant Studies.
  • PA - Physician Assistant Currently or previously licensed Physician Assistant, allopathic physician, or osteopathic physician.
  • Unrestricted professional licensure at the time of appointment if engaged in clinical practice.
  • Currently or previously board certified in the appropriate professional discipline.
  • Valid and in State Driver's License.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional clinical experience, including experience working with or supervising Physician Assistants.
  • Employment experience in a practice setting that utilizes Physician Assistants.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with program director, students, staff, faculty, and the public.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Functional ability with microcomputers or ability to learn microcomputer functions.
  • Knowledge of the local healthcare institutions and providers.
  • Ability to establish a positive rapport with healthcare institutions and providers.
  • Thorough understanding of the roles and responsibilities of Physician Assistants in clinical practice.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a visible and active advocate for the PA Program, supporting its mission, goals, and long-term sustainability.
  • Promote the PA profession and role within academic, clinical, and healthcare communities.
  • Represent the medical perspective in program decision making while supporting the Program Director’s academic leadership.
  • Participate in the development, review, and evaluation of the PA Program curriculum, ensuring alignment with current medical practice standards, the evolving scope and role of Physician Assistants, and accreditation requirements.
  • Assist in ensuring curriculum content reflects contemporary patient care, interprofessional practice, and healthcare system expectations.
  • Attend advisory committee meetings as scheduled and contribute medical expertise to program planning discussions.
  • Participate in accreditation activities, including preparation for ARC PA accreditation reviews and meetings with accreditation site visitors as requested.
  • Assist the Program Director in establishing and maintaining relationships with healthcare providers and institutions to support clinical education, program objectives, and workforce and community needs.
  • Assist the Program Director, as requested, with administrative support for academic and professionalism related due process procedures as well as clinical and professional guidance for students.
  • In conjunction with the Program Director and Program Coordinator, review and suggest modifications to keep student clinical handbook/manual, processes and procedures current and in compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Attend Physician Assistant Program faculty-staff program meetings as requested by the Program Director.
