Medical Director of Psychiatry Services - Keene, NH
About The Position
Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene / Cheshire Medical Center is seeking a Medical Director to lead and help expand Psychiatric Services. This role involves working with leadership to build psychiatry services, overseeing clinical services, supervising psychiatrists and staff, recruitment, quality improvement, and liaising with community treatment programs. The position also includes direct clinical care such as outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management, collaborative care, ED and inpatient consultations, and services at the Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. Supervision of psychiatric advanced practice providers and teaching opportunities within residency programs are also part of the role. This is an opportunity to develop a sustainable service in a rural, underserved community.
Requirements
- Advanced clinical degree (MD or DO)
- Post graduate training in residency program
- Current New Hampshire Medical License
- Current or eligible for ABMS Board Certification (to be obtained within 5 years)
- Active hospital staff membership
Responsibilities
- Lead and help expand Psychiatric Services
- Work with the Chief Medical Officer and leadership of the academic Department of Psychiatry to build psychiatry services
- Serve as a strategic member of the Medical Provider Leadership Group
- Oversee clinical services
- Directly supervise psychiatrists and other staff
- Recruit faculty and staff
- Lead quality improvement initiatives
- Act as an advocate and liaison with local community treatment programs
- Provide direct clinical care including outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management
- Provide outpatient collaborative care
- Provide psychiatric consultations to the ED and inpatient medical units
- Provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation and medication management services at Cheshire Medical Center’s Doorway Department (MAT program)
- Supervise psychiatric advanced practice providers
- Teach in the Keene/Cheshire Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program and the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center Psychiatry Residency Program
