About The Position

Community Healthcare Network (CHN) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving the underserved communities of Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens, touching the lives of 85,000 people annually. This Medical Director position is responsible for managing and coordinating all clinicians who provide infectious disease (ID) and LGBTQ services at CHN. Critical to this position is the integration with the ID/LGBTQ support staff in coordination with the VP and Assistant Director for ID/LGBTQ Programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with HIV-infected individuals required.

  • Ability to communicate easily and display a cordial manner towards individuals from a variety of socio-economic, cultural, and religious backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of the organization’s integrated HIV service plan in collaboration with the VP for ID/LGBTQ Programs who coordinates stakeholders in the Government/Public Affairs.
  • Supports the CMO and Director of Primary Care with any ID and LGBTQ related matters.
  • Participates in clinical and other committees as determined by the CMO.
  • Provides clinical support to the HIV Program Assistant, the Project Coordinator(s) for HIV Outreach and Education programs, Treatment Educator, and other staff as directed.
  • Provides clinical expertise to the continual development and evaluation of all ID & LGBTQ programs and services as well as the development of new initiatives aligned with CHN’s mission.
  • Ensures full integration of ID & LGBTQ services in CHN clinic sites.
  • Facilitates related services for health center patients as appropriate with respect to their confidentiality and privacy.
  • Assists with the credentialing of providers seeking privileges for HIV, Hep C and Transgender Care.
  • Assists in the recruitment and interview process of clinicians who will be providing ID care.
  • Serves as an internal consultant for HIV, Hep B, Hep C, STIs, PrEP, PEP and other ID related topics.
  • Provides clinical leadership to transgender health care program including providing hormone therapy, referral for gender affirmation surgery and collaboration with Behavioral Health to offer counseling and support to transgender patients.
  • Works closely with the population health department to review and identify HIV patient clinical quality metrics at least every 3 months to ensure that our care delivery is meeting those metrics.
  • Reviews and provides updates regarding HIV, STI prevention and treatment guidelines regularly at provider meetings.
  • Provides HIV, Hepatitis C and LGBTQ health updates as needed to FHCHC providers, in the form of memos and/or in-service education, to review standards of care, introduce new concepts, and educate providers.
  • Meets regularly with the VP for ID/LGBTQ Programs to ensure compliance with current grant requirements, including program spending and reporting requirements.
  • Works with CMO to establish an antimicrobial stewardship program for CHN.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
