About The Position

The Department of Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), a major Harvard Medical School affiliated teaching hospital, is seeking a full-time Community Oncologist to serve as Medical Director of the Hematology/Oncology Clinic and Infusion Services at the Quincy Ambulatory Center, scheduled to open in 2027. This Quincy site will be a modern ambulatory facility providing comprehensive hematology/oncology care, including infusion services for both cancer and non-cancer indications, with multidisciplinary and cancer-supportive services. There will also be adjacent primary care, urgent care, radiology, laboratory, and medical subspecialty clinics within the building. The Quincy practice will be one of seven BIDMC licensed ambulatory oncology clinics within Beth Israel Lahey Health. The successful candidate will establish a community-based hematology/oncology practice while serving as the physician leader for the site, partnering closely with nursing, operations, and system leadership to support high-quality, patient-centered care. This individual will report through Cancer Center Leadership and the SVP, Cancer Center.

Requirements

  • Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Hematology and Medical Oncology
  • Interest in community‑based oncology practice within an academic health system
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in clinical leadership or program development
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient hematology and medical oncology care
  • Facilitate infusion‑based therapies for oncology and non‑oncology patients
  • Participate in clinical education, collaboration, and call coverage as defined by the Department
  • Serve as the physician leader for the Quincy Hem/Onc and Infusion site
  • Partner with administrative and nursing leadership on operations, quality, and patient experience
  • Support implementation of system‑wide clinical standards, safety initiatives, and quality metrics
  • Assist with referral development and program growth within the local community
  • Act as a liaison between the Quincy site and departmental/network oncology leadership
  • Provide physician input into staffing models, workflow design, and clinic optimization as the site opens and matures
